Stevens prides itself on the safety and security of all youth, especially with specialized, high-risk populations. Redundant security systems maintain a safe environment while sustaining an intensive level of therapeutic treatment.
This staff-secure program is an extremely safe, highly structured environment. The following systems are in place to ensure safety for our youth, staff and the community:
Individual bedrooms
24-hour awake supervision
State-of-the-art electronic monitoring and surveillance
Highly trained staff
Staff-Secure Units: 24-hour awake staff supervision in all on-campus residential units.
Electronic Surveillance: every bedroom is equipped with an alarm system that ensure the youth do not leave their rooms during night-time hours; residential directors and administrators have access to closed-circuit video of residential common areas and classrooms.
Fire Alarms: state-of-the-art fire alarm and sprinkler systems exists throughout all buildings.
Safety Searches: when clients enter the program, they are placed on full safety search status. Whenever they return from being out of the staff’s sight, they must undergo a full safety search to make certain they have not accessed forbidden materials. As residents lower their risk for unsafe behavior, full safety searches may no longer be necessary.
Differentiation of Behaviors: clients are placed in cottages and classrooms by the specific etiology they present. |
